Emiliano started his British racing career with Glasgow in 1999. He quickly impressed and spent a further two seasons with the Scottish club before heading south to ride for Cornish side Trelawny. He was part of their side that won the Premier Trophy in 2002 and then won the league and cup double in his first season with Hull. That was 2004 and, like team mate Magnus Karlsson, has been based on Humberside ever since. When Hull folded, after the 2005 season, his contract was bought by Sheffield and he rode for the Yorkshire outfit in 2006. He moved to Birmingham last season but had to have his spleen removed after rupturing it in a track crash. It ended his season and there for a time there was uncertainty over his ability to start the 2008 season. In the end he made a full recovery and signed for Stoke. Unfortunately his confidence around the Loomer Road track suffered and in early June he made the move to Scunthorpe. ‘Poty’ as he is affectionately known was the Argentine National Champion in 2001 and 2002, but his Italian ancestry allows him to compete in Britain without the need for a work permit, and he went on to win the Italian National title in 2004. |
