Rob was a Scunthorpe supporter from the age of ten. He went on to be a mechanic for both Rob Woffinden and Julian Parr at Ashby Ville but like so many he drifted from the sport when his home-town club disappeared. Now the owner of the town’s Moorwell Service Station, his interest in the sport was rekindled after visiting the Trelawny track in Cornwall. He quickly opened discussions with the local council and eventually an area of grassland was offered on Normanby Road. His outstanding work ethic has helped turn that field into the Eddie Wright Raceway and, for the first time, given the town a consistently competitive speedway team. |

Stuart rode for Bradford in the British League (now Elite) and Long Eaton in the National League (now Premier) between 1989 and 1992 before deciding to retire after injury. After a long absence Stuart impressed in the club’s amateur meetings in 2008 and soon found himself riding for the Saints in the Conference League. He rode in half the club’s meetings and achieved an average just below seven despite riding in twice as many away meetings as home ones. Stuart also has many years as Jason Lyon’s mechanic and, with over twenty years in the sport, his experience and personality made him a perfect appointment as the Saints coach in 2009 and then ideal person to take over as Team Manager from Malcolm Vasey. |

Julie is a committed fan who has taken on an official role to help the club. Along with the rest of her family she started watching the Saints at Quibell Park and after the Stags demise returned for the first ever Scorpions meeting. Her brother, Dave Palmer, is the club’s incident recorder whilst Julie is the club’s Marketing Manager. She is the person to contact if anyone is thinking about advertising at the Eddie Wright Raceway or sponsoring either of the sides. Richard’s love for Scunthorpe Speedway started in 1979 at Ashby Ville. After quickly losing touch with the sport after the Stags closed in 1985 he became a fan once again in 2002 and soon got involved with building the track two years later. Since then he has helped out the club in a variety of positions and is currently the Scorpions’ Team Manager and the club’s Press Officer. He also runs the website and along with his wife, Anne, helps organise the club’s practice sessions and amateur meetings.
