A late starter to speedway, Jonathan did not make his Conference League debut until he was thirty years of age, when he rode for Oxford against Buxton. He rode for the Hitmen for the season averaging over six in thirty-two meetings.

He was made captain in 2004 and improved his average to almost seven. Johnathan stayed with the Hitmen again for 2005 and was also signed by the Workington Comets in the Premier League at reserve.

He was once again with the Hitmen for 2006 and 2007 but transferred to Stoke mid season.

Johnathan will add valuable Conference League experience to the Saints team.
