The Finn first caught the eye of the Scunthorpe management when he rode in the David Nix Memorial Meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway but with Viktor Bergström already signed the club weren't going to risk signing two riders with a seven-point assessed average.

Somehow Berwick managed to get him re-assessed to a 5.00 average but after ending the 2009 season on the injury list, following a crash at Workington, which left him with a broken pelvis, a fit-again Tero was deemed surplus to requirements when the Bandits put their 2010 team together.

He quickly made the most of his opportunity at Scunthorpe, however, proving a real hit with Lincolnshire fans as he posted a highly respectable green sheet average of 6.12 in his first term at Normanby Road. A Finnish international, he has represented his country in World Cup events.
