STEVE WORRALL will return for a third season racing for Scunthorpe Saints in 2012 – becoming the sixth rider on the team sheet for the forthcoming season.
Merseyside-born Worrall has risen through the ranks at the Eddie Wright Raceway, after starting riding on the mini-track in 2009. A motocross rider since the age of seven, he saw a televised speedway meeting, and decided to give it a go himself.
26.01.12: Saints in eight team National League
DEFENDING champions Scunthorpe Saints are confirmed as one of eight starters in the 2012 National League and face Stoke Potters in a mouth-watering first round tie in the Knockout Cup.
21.12.11: Parnaby signs up two more prospects
Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints Team Manager Stuart Parnaby has signed two more of the country’s best young prospects for his 2012 side. With club promoter Rob Godfrey having committed the Saints to a two-year development plan Parnaby has been able to secure the signing of 15-year old Daniel Phillips from Middlesbrough and 14-year old Max Clegg from Brighouse.
12.12.11: Saints confirm three
With the 2012 Scunthorpe Scorpions line-up having been sorted last month the attention at Scunthorpe Speedway has turned to the National League Saints side. Club promoter Rob Godfrey has made a two-year commitment to running the side for development purposes and with most of the 2011 side moving on to ride for standalone sides there is sure to be a lot of new faces in the team when the season starts. However two familiar faces will definitely be returning with club captain, Adam Wrathall, and 16 year-old Oliver Greenwood confirmed starters for 2012 whilst they will be joined by the 20-year old former Newport Hornets rider, Tom Young, who joins the club on a full transfer.
29.10.11: Saints give youth a chance
After already securing the National League title,and with several riders unavailable, the Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints are giving an opportunity to several young riders when they travel to Newport Wasps tomorrow. Teenagers Sam Woods, Oliver Greenwood and Conor Dwyer will all ride whilst Adam Wrathall's brother, Martin, will fill the number seven race jacket in the meeting that starts at 6pm.
