10.12.08: Hart targets massive gain
Jerran Hart, one of the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions’ new signings for the 2009 season has set himself a massive target for the new season. Coming in on a three-point average the Lakeside Hammers asset has targeted a seven point figure which would almost certainly propel the club towards the top of the Premier League table. “I would like to get up to a seven-point figure and I think I can. I am very confident on the Scunthorpe track and I feel that confidence should spread to my away performances”.

“The move to Scunthorpe is a great one for me. I just love the track, the club are ambitious and it has great potential. I think the side Kenny and Rob have put together is superb and we will be a match for anyone. David Howe is a really great signing and someone I can really learn a lot from. I know Simon and Byron well and Carl is a nice guy too. I think we have a great chance of trophies and I’m also keen to do well in the British Under-21 Championship. I certainly can make it to the final and it would be great to progress through to the World Junior Championship.”

Seventeen-year old Hart burst onto the Conference League scene in 2007, eventually signing for the Sittingbourne Crusaders. He finished that season in impressive form and was signed by the Newport Wasps Premier League side after impressing in practice during the winter. Sadly the Wasps season ended after their owner, Tim Stone, died in late April but Newcastle were quick to offer Jerran a team slot and he spent the rest of the season commuting between his Suffolk home and Tyneside. He managed a creditable 3.59 average with the Diamonds but admitted the mid-season switch meant he was a bit short on sponsorship last year.

“We hardly had chance to settle at Newport before its closure and then it was only just over half a season at Newcastle. Sponsorship is vital in this sport and hopefully we can find some local sponsors at Scunthorpe because Dad and Mum are basically doing it all at the moment. I’m obviously very grateful to them but it would be a great if we could get some assistance and I’m sure it would make a big difference”.

“Hopefully someone will have liked what they saw in the British Under-18 Final and want to help me achieve the goals I’ve set. If someone is interested please call 07775-712046”.
