14.11.08: Bergström back! |
| Scunthorpe Speedway Promoter Rob Godfrey has confirmed the second rider who will line-up for the Scorpions in 2009. Along with Byron Bekker, who will be returning for his fifth year with the club, the club have agreed terms with their Rider of the Year Viktor Bergström. Bergström, whose twenty-second birthday is today, has just completed his first season in British speedway and after a shaky start to 2008, which saw him struggling with his machinery, he went from strength to strength and averaged 7.64 over the last five months of the season. |

17.11.08: Decisions suit Scorpions |
| Scunthorpe Speedway Promoter Rob Godfrey has confirmed that many of the decisions made at the BSPA Conference suit the club. “With the 42.50 points limit the league is being strengthened and we are excited by that. The new National League for the Saints is going to be much more professional and its set-up should mean more riders signing for the club. As for the new point scoring system we will have to see how that goes but it looks like it will keep meetings alive for longer”. |

19.11.08: Wilko “No hesitation” |
Scunthorpe Speedway can confirm that club asset Carl Wilkinson will be part of the Scorpions side in 2009. The immensely popular Lincolnshire lad, who was signed from Newport a year ago, is to start the season how he finished it in 2008, as the third heat-leader and despite an impressive first season he is targeting an improvement in 2009. “We didn’t have the best year with the bikes. I’m going to be much better prepared for next year with machinery and I will be looking to do some pre-season testing.”
