25.01.08: Hall named as Scorpions' Captain |

| The Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions have named Richard Hall as their captain for the 2008 season. The 23-year old, from Northallerton in North Yorkshire, will lead a young Scorpions side into their first Premier League campaign and Team Manager Kenny Smith feels Richard is the ideal man for the job. |  |

26.01.08: Beaton wins first amateur meeting |

| Scot Gary Beaton, who rode for the Cleveland Bays last season, won the inaugural amateur meeting run by Scunthorpe Speedway on Saturday afternoon. Whilst Beaton may have been the pre-meeting favourite he didn’t have it all his own way and had to fend off a strong last bend challenge from Cumbrian Gary Irving to win the meeting. In the Support Class Manchester’s Greg Walsh triumphed whilst in the Youth Class it was Sheffield’s James Sarjeant who reigned supreme. |

31.01.08: Saints name full line-up |

| The Scunthorpe Saints’ Team Manager Malcolm Vasey has named his starting seven riders for the 2008 season. The capture of Australian Sam Martin was announced last week and four of last season’s Scorpions’ side will join him in the side. Benji Compton, Byron Bekker, Scott Richardson and Scott Anderson are the returning quartet with Compton and Bekker also set to ride for the Scorpions in the Premier League. |  |

06.02.08: Additional Practice Session |

| The club have decided to put on an additional practice this Saturday afternoon (9th February). The session runs from 1pm - 5pm and signing-on is from 12pm. The cost is the usual £35 and anyone who also rides in the Sunday afternoon practice session will get the second session for £20. 06.02.08: Scorpions secure major sponsorship deal for Raceway |

| The Scunthorpe Scorpions have concluded a major sponsorship deal with leading car dealership Eddie Wright. The 20 year deal, which involves a five figure sum, will see the speedway team’s home on Normanby Road re-named The Eddie Wright Raceway. Promoter Kenny Smith said: “We’re delighted to have won the support of such an important local company, particularly as they are prepared to back us over such a long period" | |
