05.01.08: Scorpions accepted into Premier Trophy
The Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions have been accepted into the Premier Trophy competition for 2008 and will join the Sheffield Tigers, the Redcar Bears, the Newcastle Diamonds and the Stoke Potters in one of the regional groups. The Premier Trophy traditionally opens the Premier League season and acceptance into the competition ensures the Scorpions will be able to compete on an equal footing as they make the step up into a higher division. 07.01.08: Home opener set for Good Friday
The Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions will open their 2008 campaign with derby clashes against the Sheffield Tigers in the Premier Trophy. The two clubs will meet at Sheffield’s Owlerton Stadium on Thursday 20th March before the return fixture takes place at the Scunthorpe Raceway the following evening. 09.01.08: Vasey heads Conference League Saints
Whilst the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions are moving up to the Premier League this year the club have declared they will also run a Conference League side in 2008. The team will be called the Saints and primarily will be used to develop riders for the senior team. The club can also confirm that a Conference League legend, Malcolm Vasey, has been appointed as Team Manager for the new side. Saints News icon

09.01.08: Lincs FM set to name fifth signing
Scunthorpe Speedway's fifth signing for the 2008 season is set to be announced by Lincs FM at 6.30am on Thursday morning. Lincs FM, who broadcast on 97.6 FM in the Scunthorpe area and 102.2 FM through the rest of the county, will also make subsequent announcements, as usual, on the 7.30am and 8.30am sports bulletins.

A full report, with views from Co-Promoter and Team Manager Kenny Smith, will appear hear around 11.30am.

10.01.08: Scorpions sign Wilko on full transfer
The Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions have announced their fifth signing for their first season in the Premier League. He is Boston rider Carl Wilkinson who will join the club on a full transfer from the Newport Wasps after spending last year out on loan with the Newcastle Diamonds. 26-year old Carl is no stranger to the Scunthorpe Raceway.
