21.01.10: Scorpions remain cheapest in Premier League

The Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions have announced their admission prices for the 2010 season and whilst there have been increases the adult price will remain the cheapest in the Premier League at £13. Concession prices will be £11 with prices for children aged between 10 and 16 remaining at just £4. With the club conscious of attracting families to the Eddie Wright Raceway accompanied children under the age of 10 will continue to be admitted free of charge.

Commenting on the prices Promoter Rob Godfrey said “We have been operating in the Premier League on what are virtually Conference League admission prices and we just couldn’t hold the prices any longer. We should have brought the prices in line with others last year but the recession was just starting to really bite. Thankfully we have been able to hold the children’s prices and we have reduced the price of a programme by a pound. That will be a compact affair but we will put all the important information in it and hopefully the pound saving will be appreciated”.

“Our reputation for providing outstanding racing at the Eddie Wright Raceway has continued to spread and I’m sure we have assembled the town’s best ever team for next season. Despite the increase I firmly believe we still provide the best value for money racing in the country and that is something we will always strive for”.

“I can confirm our season will start on Friday 19th March at 7.30pm and we will face our nearest and dearest rivals, the Sheffield Tigers, in the Premier Trophy. It means the season is starting with a competitive fixture there were no suitable opponents for a challenge match. Redcar, Sheffield and Birmingham are all in our Premier Trophy group so they couldn’t come and Leicester, who I fancied facing, aren’t coming to the tapes this season”.

“Instead we are trying to arrange a press and practice day that all seven Scorpions can attend and hopefully we can announce that soon. Fixture planning is also in its advanced stages so hopefully they can also be published in the not too distant future.”
