31.03.12: "Wait for when we click into gear"
SCUNTHORPE promoter Rob Godfrey has warned the rest of the Premier League: “Wait for when we click into gear!”

The Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions currently head the northern section of the League Cup, with an unbeaten record in the competition from three meetings.

Godfrey said: “We have not been riding to our full capabilities, but we’ve still been able to pull out the results at the end of matches. I think it’s the measure of a good team to still be able to grab the results when they are not riding consistently well.”

31.03.12: MDL - Stags 18 Long Eaton 16
THE SCUNTHORPE STAGS opened their Midland Development League campaign with a home victory over the Long Eaton Invaders at the Eddie Wright Raceway on 23rd March.

Afterwards Stags Team Manager Richard Hollingsworth said “It was a shame that Adam Kirby came all this way and didn’t get to ride and then we were reduced to two riders. It almost certainly helped us win the meeting because Oliver Greenwood had an extra ride but these meetings are really about track time. It was bad enough we were only able to track one rider in three races but I do feel some sympathy for Long Eaton."

30.03.12: Scorpions maintain unbeaten start
Following on from victory against Berwick and a draw at Redcar the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions maintained their unbeaten start to their League Cup campaign with a hard-fought 46-44 victory over the Newcastle Diamonds last night. It was a night when club assets Steve and Richie Worrall would return to the Eddie Wright Raceway and a 5-1 from the pairing saw the visitors take the lead in heat 2. The Diamonds held that lead all the way to heat 14 when Michael Palm Toft and Ashley Birks gave the lead to the Scorpions for the first time, ironically against the Worrall twins, before Josh Auty, who top-scored with 12 points, recorded his fourth heat win in heat 15 to secure victory. 29.03.12: Scorpions draw despite Howe injury
“PROBABLY a point lost rather than two gained” was team manager Richard Hollingsworth’s assessment, after the Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions claimed a draw at Redcar last night (Thursday), despite skipper David Howe crashing out of the meeting in Heat 11.

Howe sustained a hand injury, although he is hopeful of riding in the home meeting against the Newcastle Diamonds at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight.

In a night of fluctuating fortunes and only two shared heats, the lead changed hands no fewer than six times.
