01.05.12: Was this the youngest ever side?
HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions’ team manager Richard Hollingsworth wonders if the Scunthorpe side tracked last Friday against Redcar is the youngest team ever to grace the Premier League.

Hollingsworth said: “With David Howe injured, we brought in 17-year-old Nick Morris as a guest. The only rider we tracked above 21 years old was 28-year-old Tero Aarnio. The average age of the team was 21 years and 8 months.

“In terms of Scunthorpe, It’s the youngest team we’ve tracked at this level since joining the Premier League in 2008.

27.04.12: Scorpions too strong for Bears
HENDERSON INSURANCE Scunthorpe Scorpions had too much all-round strength for Redcar Bears at the Eddie Wright Raceway tonight. The 18-point win saw the Scorpions take all three League Cup points on offer and move back into second place in the northern section of the competition.

While the final score suggests a resounding home win, the Scorpions were given a tough battle in the opening two-thirds of the meeting, and the scores stood level at 27-27 after nine races. After that, though, it was all one-way traffic, as the home side registered three 5-1s and three 4-2s in the closing stages of proceedings.
