25.08.10: Bank Holiday speedway feast
The Eddie Wright Raceway in Scunthorpe plays host to one of its traditional Bank Holiday speedway feasts this Monday with two top class speedway meetings set to start at 5pm. First up are the Premier League Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions against their arch-rivals from just over the county boundary, the Sheffield Tigers, with both sides desperate to pip King’s Lynn and Berwick for sixth place in the league and second pick of opponent in the Young Shield. Then immediately afterwards the talent-filled Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints face the high-flying, title challenging Buxton Hitmen over another fifteen heats of high-octane action. 23.08.10: Raceway to feature on TV
The Eddie Wright Raceway is set to feature on BBC1’s Tears and Gears programme on Monday 6th September. The half hour programme which starts at 10.35pm is the sixth and final episode of a documentary series which follows the intense rivalry between the Smith family from Lancashire and the Wainman family of Yorkshire who have been vying to be the World Champion Stock Car drivers for decades. Originally it was Frank Wainman and Stuart Smith who did battle in the 1970’s and 1980’s, now it is their sons who are battling for the World titles. The series follows the rivalry through the 2009 season when the EWR burst onto the stock car scene as one of the best race tracks in the country. Scorpions News icon

22.08.10: Saints look for Bank Holiday revenge
The Jotun Paints Scunthorpe Saints became the eighth side to travel to Derbyshire and lose to the Buxton Hitmen yesterday. The Hitmen have won all their home league meetings and are now top of the league but despite losing 54-37 the Saints will have a quick chance of revenge as the Buxton management have kindly agreed to have the return fixture as part of the Bank holiday double-header (30th August) at the Eddie Wright Raceway. 21.08.10: Jerran Hart Update
Jerran Hart, who crashed out of Thursday night’s meeting at Redcar, is now back in Ipswich hospital awaiting an operation on his ankle and heel. He has already had one to set his broken wrist but is in good spirits and is already thinking about riding next season. He expects to spend a few days in hospital but anyone wishing to send a card can send it to 268, Ravenswood Drive, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP3 9TQ. 21.08.10: Terrific team performance secures draw
The Henderson Insurance Scunthorpe Scorpions produced a superb team display last night to claim a 45-45 draw at Rye House last night. So far this season Edinburgh had been the only visitors not to lose but with all seven riders paid for between five and eleven points the home side had no answer for the Scorpions strength in depth. Leading the scoring for the second night running was Tero Aarnio with ten points whilst he and Magnus Karlsson ensured that two league points came north by splitting Linus Sundström and Chris Neath in the final race.
