26.01.08: Beaton wins first amateur meeting |

| Scot Gary Beaton, who rode for the Cleveland Bays last season, won the inaugural amateur meeting run by Scunthorpe Speedway on Saturday afternoon. Whilst Beaton may have been the pre-meeting favourite he didn’t have it all his own way and had to fend off a strong last bend challenge from Cumbrian Gary Irving to win the meeting. In the Support Class Manchester’s Greg Walsh triumphed whilst in the Youth Class it was Sheffield’s James Sarjeant who reigned supreme. |

17.02.08: Wallinger, Picken and Owen take the honours |

| David Wallinger, Glyn Picken and Marc Owen took the honours at the Eddie Wright Raceway in Scunthorpe yesterday. Owen (‘Youth 250’ class) and Picken (Support Class) were relatively untroubled but the Redcar Cubs’ Wallinger had to pass Rye House Raider Daniel Halsey in a thrilling Open Class final to secure his top slot. | |

| Two Dans, Rye House heat-leader Daniel Halsey and Hull-based prospect Daniel Lead, took the honours in Saturday’s amateur meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway. Halsey won a high quality open class that saw Saints’ rider Scott Richardson finish runner-up ahead of King’s Lynn’s Simon Lambert whilst Lead easily won the Support Class with a six-ride maximum and some impressive heat times. | |

07.03.08: 2008 Summer Championship announced |

| An eight-date Summer Championship has been organised for amateur riders at Scunthorpe. The weekend meetings will take place between April and October with 8 rounds for the 'Open' and 'Support' classes. There will also be four round for the 'Youth 500 class' and four for the 'Youth 250 class'. The dates are: Saturday 12th April, Sunday 4th May, Sunday 1st June, Saturday 5th July, Saturday 2nd August, Saturday 30th August, Saturday 20th September & Saturday 11th October |

09.03.08: Results from 4th Amateur meeting - 8th March |

| Michael Pickering, James Sarjeant and Rhys Naylor were the class winners in Saturday’s amateur meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway. Pickering, a former Scorpion rider, had to do it the hard way after failing to score in two of his qualifying rides. He missed his first outing and suffered an engine failure before ending up in the ‘D’ Final. However, four heat wins on the trot saw him edge out the Leicestershire pair of Dean Hancox and Lee Geary to take top honours. | |
