28.01.12: Winners do it the hard way
Round four of the Scunthorpe Speedway Winter Championship saw all three adult winners do it the hard way by progressing through the ‘B’ finals. Scunthorpe rider, Stefan Nielsen, who is out on loan to Mildenhall in 2012, even finished second in the ‘B’ final but earned a reprieve when Steve Worrall pulled out of the ‘A’ final due to bike problems. Nielsen passed Gary Irving in the final race to cap a fine meeting for the 17-year old and was joined by 2012 Scunthorpe Saint and Winter Series leader Tom Young and 2011 Berwick Bandit Tamas Sike. 11.12.11: Nielsen wins number 62
Stefan Nielsen, a member of the 2011 National League-title winning Scunthorpe Saints, raced to victory in yesterday’s amateur meeting at the Eddie Wright Raceway. After looking classy in qualifying he kept the Saints new signing, Tom Young, at bay in the final with Andrew Blackburn continuing his recent upsurge in form to claim third ahead of Sam Woods who shed a chain whilst in third place. Earlier in the day a crash ended the challenge of two other Saints riders, Adam Wrathall and Oliver Greenwood, whilst former Premier League racer Henning Loof also had to pack up early, after winning two of his three races, with bike problems.
